About ISM

Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM)  is a program that is offered to juniors and seniors in the Frisco Independent School District. This program gives students the opportunity to conduct a year of extensive research in their career or field of interest, and this class is intended for students who achieve well in school and are self-motivated. In order to be considered for the course, students must first take part in a robust application process - including teacher recommendations, an essay, and an interview.
When selected, students have the opportunity to interact with professionals and work under a mentor. Throughout the year, students of ISM diligently research to create an original work and final product. The skills learned in ISM are valuable to students because students are able to learn how to conduct thorough research, hold interviews, and improve their public speaking.
