Work, work, work, work, work - 10/18/20

Although it was a short one, this week felt insane. Not only did we have the PSAT, I also had a ton of extra schoolwork that I had to find a way to stay on top of. I have no idea how I would be surviving without my calendar planner. This is the first year that I have used one for school, but I have no idea why I never had used it before.

In ISM this week, we had two assessments due. I wrote one over an interview I had last week and the other over an article on loratadine and additional knowledge that I have gained. I was surprised to see how the information I am getting and learning everyday has begun to compile. After two interviews and researching on my own, I have gained insight into the different allergy medication applications and even some of the ingredients. One ingredient that is prominent in allergy medications is an antihistamine. There are so many different types and versions of antihistamines and most of the time, these antihistamines determine side effects, effectiveness, and how long it takes for the medication to work. Although antihistamines are in most allergy medications because they block histamines, which are the most well-known trigger of allergy symptoms, there are medications that do not contain it. Another trigger of allergy symptoms along with many others is leukotriene. I learned that there are medications that contain the means to block allergic reactions without antihistamines by blocking substances such as leukotriene. I still have questions over how indoor and outdoor allergens may trigger symptoms differently. This is something I would like to ask about in my next interview.

This week may have been extremely busy, but I am bouncing back from the struggles I had. I want to schedule more interviews this next week. My goal is to send out at least 5 emails to otolaryngologists asking for an interview and having one scheduled by the end of the week. Also, I need to stay on top of my original work. I have not been keeping up with my original work log very well, and I need to quickly make logging my work hours a habit. Going into the second nine weeks, I expect more from myself. I want to see just how much I can grow before the next semester.
