Over the weekend, I started to write the assessment on my first mentor visit. I also got a last minute mentor visit date. I was so excited. Today was my second mentor visit, and I was ecstatic to see what else I could experience next. My last visit was extremely beneficial, and I had learned so much.
I got up around 7:40 AM, got ready, packed my school backpack, and drove to Collin County ENT. While there, I was able to shadow about 5 patients and each of them were very different and on various levels of severity. I watched some instruments that I have not yet seen being used and looked at some charts. I have now looked at 4 different CAT Scans and a couple different ear pressure tests. Comparing them and the notes I have taken so far have been fascinating because of all of the differences from person to person. This visit was so eye opening. At the first visit, I watched a simple procedure and some hearing exams, however, the rise in the level of severity in today’s visit surprised me. I knew that ENTs deal with some severe cases and there are many that are more severe than the patients I saw today, but the conditions that I saw today were on a different level from my first visit to the clinic. I am amazed with the work all of the employees do at Collin County ENT, and I cannot wait to go back to learn more soon.
