I feel extremely blessed. This week, I have connected with a couple amazing otolaryngologists and scored my first interview with a person in my field.
On Monday, September 28, I had a semi-casual interview with an ISM Alumni. She was absolutely phenomenal, extremely kind, and walked me through her experiences and thought processes during ISM. Not long after, I had my very first professional interview scheduled! I had gotten a call from the doctor’s administrator during my first period class. I could not answer so I was extremely relieved to see that she had left a follow-up email. We scheduled the interview for Wednesday, October 7th at 2:30pm and then talked the rest of the day about how it was going to look. I am so excited.
The last huge piece of information is that I turned in my original work proposal! My idea is to research, analyze, and compare indoor allergies, outdoor allergies, and different types of allergy medications. After comparing indoor and outdoor allergies, I want to find what medication would be the best fit and if the different ingredients in different allergy medications really make a difference. I want to try and create the best scenario of allergy medication meaning long lasting, effective, and made of non-toxic ingredients. Using this research, I want to summarize what I find into a brochure that people can easily access and understand. My original work is difficult and will challenge me immensely, but I want to see exactly how far I can go and I am excited to see the results.
